Tour overview

The south-western edge of Tahiti Nui is a sanctuary where the veil between nature and ancient spirituality remains thin. On this private exploration, we leave the coastal highways behind to uncover the island’s most revered sites. Our first encounter is with the silent stones of Marae Arahurahu, a meticulously preserved open-air temple once dedicated to Oro, the god of war. Here, among the whispering fruit trees, you will feel the weight of centuries of Polynesian tradition. As we continue, the air cools significantly at the Maraa Grottos—deep, crystalline pools tucked beneath overhanging cliffs draped in emerald ferns. These hidden 'water gardens' offer a serene contrast to the vibrant energy of Taharu’u, where the island’s surfing legacy is born on powerful black sand breaks. The journey culminates in the lush Vaipahi Watergarden, a botanical marvel of sacred lotus flowers and cascading springs that was once a purification site for the high chiefs of old. This is an easy-paced, deeply intellectual journey through Tahiti’s living history. With a private guide at your side, you aren't just a spectator; you are an invited guest to the island’s most intimate landscapes, free to pause, reflect, and discover at your own natural pace.
