Venus Point black sand beach: Cultural, historical spot and a black sand beach
Our first stop is Venus Point, a truly essential Tahiti historical site rich in cultural and historical significance. Recently landscaped, it now features a pleasant walking path that allows visitors to explore and learn about the numerous pivotal events that unfolded here.
The history of European contact with French Polynesia began at Venus Point. In June 1767, Englishman Samuel Wallis landed here aboard the Dolphin, followed a year later by French explorer *Louis Antoine de Bougainville with his ships Boudeuse and Etoile.
In April 1769, the British Captain James Cook arrived in Matavai Bay aboard the Endeavour. Here, he successfully observed the transit of Venus across the Sun, a mission that ultimately gave this point its name.
Venus Point is also linked to the infamous story of the Mutiny on the Bounty. We will visit the memorial stela erected by the descendants of the mutineers, bearing the names of the rebellious crew.
Later, in March 1797, this black sand beach became the landing site of the first Protestant missionaries sent by the London Missionary Society aboard the ship The Duff. This marked the beginning of Christianity's spread across French Polynesia and its surrounding archipelagos.
Adding to the charm of Venus Point is the beautiful white lighthouse, the first to be built in the South Pacific and still the only one on Tahiti.

Faarumai waterfalls: Big impressive waterfall deep in the valley
Our next stop is the magnificent Faarumai Waterfall, one of the most impressive cascades in Tahiti and a must-see natural wonder. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery, this stunning waterfall offers a serene escape into nature.
We’ll follow a scenic path, breathing in the fresh, invigorating air and listening to the soothing sound of cascading water as we approach the foot of the falls. Here, you can fully experience its grandeur, feel the refreshing mist on your skin, and capture unforgettable photos of this magical setting to cherish forever.
Arahoho Blow hole: Howling road
Our next stop is the awe-inspiring Arahoho Blowhole, a natural wonder that has captivated visitors from around the world. It’s hard not to feel a thrill of excitement as you hear the roaring sound of water and air being forced through this natural vent in the rocky coast.
This remarkable phenomenon is the result of basalt flows that entered the sea millions of years ago, forming the rugged landscape you see today. The Arahoho Blowhole is not only a magnificent spectacle but also a fascinating testament to Tahiti’s volcanic origins.which in Tahitian means « the howling road,» always surprises visitors with the breath and the force of the waves breaking against the rocks.

On the way back, we’ll make a stop at Tahara’a, a site that combines the rich history of Tahiti with breathtaking panoramic views. This Tahiti historical site is also a scenic viewpoint overlooking the stunning Matavai Bay.
From here, we’ll admire the sweeping vistas of the lagoon and the silhouette of Moorea in the distance. The lagoon, alive with activity, offers a charming scene of local boats of all sizes gliding across its glistening surface, leaving shimmering trails behind. It’s a perfect spot to soak in the beauty of Tahiti and capture unforgettable memories.
Tomb of the last King : Historical site
Another notable Tahiti historical site is the tomb of the last King of Tahiti, Pomare V. Known for his passion for liquor, which ultimately led to his death from alcoholism, the story of Pomare V is both fascinating and tragic. His funeral monument, designed to mimic a Greek urn, features a curved shape reminiscent of a wine glass—a fitting yet somber nod to the cause of his demise.

A half day tour doesn't include a lunch stop by default. You could request it, and you have two options: your guide will skip a couple of spots to give you a time for lunch, or you could extend your tour for an hour or so..
You always could extend your Tour by hour basis paying in Us cash 90$/ hour per group.
All the attractions are close to the bus stop (usually not more than 5 minutes walk).
